Week 1 semester 2
Monday January 9
Today was the first day back to school and i was tired all day. We went over what would be happening through this semester and showed the class the FIRST Steamworks game challenge video.game manual
Tuesday January 10
Today i am still really tired and a bit sick but can mess up perfect attendence also cant miss weight training for 6th period. We spent most of the class period trying to show the class how to access google sites but ran into the problem of they could not figure out how to log into their google drive even though its the same log in as the log in to get access into the laptop.
Wednesday January 11
Tday was a wednesday challenge so we spent it making a cardboard 1x1 foot square closest to exact wins.
Thursday January 12
Today we continued to help the class access their google account and for the last five minutes of class Mr Miller explained what google sites was and how it is more drag and drop than acual coding which some people struggled with.
Friday January 13
Today we showed the class the FIRST Steamworks video again and then presented our progress on the design and overall robot. after i came back from practice which i found out was only 2 hours i proceeded to find out that for the past hour of robotics no one had done anything productive. (My phone went from 20 to 1 to 0% power withing a second and a half during the 589 dinner which saddened me cuz i didnt know how i was getting home.

Week 2 semester 2
Tuesday January 17
Today Mr Miller and Kirk continued the talk on google sites and html. I watch and helped a bit in the back of hte class because i have multiple navigation pages and i wouldnt want to start over. Although i might make an extention to this about welding and blacksmithing on google sites but we'll see.
Wednesday January 18
Wednesday challenge today i was the judge and it went kinda wrong because we forgot to show the people the paper bag that their device had to reach into so we lowered the height to 4ish inches tall instead of 10-11 inches. what was interesting was that most teams didnt realize their device wouldnt pick up the ball until they got out onto the field and tried it until time ran out or they gave up.
Thursday January 19
Today Dr Neat lead the class on how to make a home page in html and how to make it link to other html codes. I was a helper and helped my row figure out how to create it and keep up with Dr Neats instructions. In robotics i helped Gingy surface mill a piece of aluminum and recycle the piece so it could be rewelded on later.
Friday January 20
Today sam and kevin gave an update on what the progress is for the robot. We also helped rookies find out what was wrong with filezilla because apparently they cod was bugged and wouldnt do as it was suppose to.
Over the weekend i took a blacksmithing class on how to make damascus steel and i made a small spear head. durring the final forging it got a stess crach almost all he way down the middle which sucked but it was a nice experience. Week 3 semester 2
Monday January 23
Today we went over grades and how the grading is scored. and then i helped people figure out why things wernt working on their website.
Tuesday January 24
TOday I helped more people with their websites and watched tony play civilization 5 in the back.
Wednesday January 25
Today was a wednesday challenge and i was judging with the other "veterans" on what this years hand out was going to be. a flying spiral seemed the most do able but the team was all veterans so we had two winner. the second winner was a gyro gear where the inner part had a bearing that would make it into a rotating gear.
Thursday January 26
Today we continued judging and then went to the shop to discuss the results. ( results are in previous entry.) After that I wandered around and helps a few people with their websites.
Friday January 27
Today we gave a small presentation on what we have accomplished so far and what we have yet to do to the robot to get it ready for bag and tag.
Week 4 semester 2
Monday January 30
Today MR Miller talked to us about recource management of computers and Dr Neat went over what was required for the website for grading this weekend. I was sick over the weekend and think my fever is getting worse but i havea big lab tuesday and wednesday so i want to stick aroung for that.
Tuesday January 31
TOday i helped some people with car making for their race and helpeed abit with some people milling. I feel really sick and might stay home tomorrow.
Wednesday February 1
Wednesday challenge! I felt sick so i was sent home by dr neat to get better.
Thursday February 2
Today i feel a bit better but still kinda sick. hopefully we dont do anything today for practice so that i can go home and rest. Today i helped some people with making cars and watched kirk help someone with their website so that he could start on his car.
Friday February 3
Today we gave a presentation to the class on what happeneedd in robotics so far. We finished CAD and started a bit on Fabrication.
its saturday but when we sent up teh new mill and used it a bit we triggered the circuit breaker. we thought we fixed it but when we tryed it again it did this so no idea what happened but its a pretty cool arc.
Week 5 semester 2
Monday February 6
TOday MR Miller went over how last grading period went and what we could do to improve. over the weekend though alvin told mrs martos the idea for the handout and she freaked because flying objects werent allowed in the arena and that might disqualify us if we gave them out.
Tuesday February 7
no idea what happened today im writing all this on the 16th and i really cant even remember waht happened on monday so im just type to look busy so i dont have to do chores.
Wedneady February 8
today i think i went back with cole to tack some peices together for the upper chasis but i really can remember. I KNOW FOR SURE THO THAT I WAS NOT PARTICIPATING IN THIS WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE LIKE ALL THE OTHER FAB PEOPLE I WAS WORKING ON ROBOT PROGRESS. after looking at other websites i found that its the fidget toy wc that maddie ran. I STILL WASNT APPART OF IT
THursday February 9
I Dont remember what we did today but i do remember that i met coach hughs today and we did some linemen exercises to incr3ease agility namely jumproping and jumkping over hit bags
Friday February 10
Today i think we finished tacking the chasis togetyher and then during the meetings reily got some full welds in before he left i didnt do much because right when we got ready to weld others the clean up bell rang. i do think that we waste vital hours in the two - three hour after dinner meeting when we could be finishing welding and then paint could happen over sunday making it ready for testying on monday butnoooooo
Week 6 semester 2
Tueday February 14
today is the first ay back from a threeday weekend and mr miller went over last week's website ggrading. The original grade that i got was an8 but when he went over it with me i showied him where my wc picture and forms were to raise my grade to a 9
Wednesday February 15
Today we had a wednesday challenge where we had to toss plastic pipe tubes a circle with out dropping it and if we did it sitting standing and standing skipping a person we would win.
The tubes we were using looked like these but are thin plastic with no ends and with all the vaporized mercury out of it.
Thursday February 16
Today there wasnt much to do so im updating my website for the past week and getting almost everything ready for the grading period this weekend
Friday February 17
Today we showed the class the robot and then after the demo was done we were free to try and finish up the robot. found two problems and fixed both. the first one was the limit switch at the top wasnt working because as we found out the pusher hit the gear chain before it hit the limits switch;solution grind down the edge hitting the gear until it hit the switch before the gear. problem two the lexan for one of the two ramps under the pusher was bent and touching the bottom;quick solution camfer the hole more so that the screw doesnt push them together.
Week 7 semester 2
Tuesday February 21
Today robotics gave a little demo of the robot before bag and tag. after school ally and ryan tryed to fix autonomous. it took a while and then kevin came in and gave them all the measurements that they spent so much time on to figure out.
Wednesday february 22
today was a wednesday challenge like the "E" WC but with the letter A. Today was just sketchup and export the sketch up.
thursday february 23
today was spent cuting outthe A and watching alvin make the wrong CAD, turning it in, then finding out he was making teh wrong cad and laughig at him for doing so.
Friday february 24
today was watching a video with people dr neato knew when he was in jpl and then the judgeds gave the results. after that we worked on our websites.
Week 8 semester 2
Monday February 27
Today was spend coming up with a rope mechanism to do the rope climb for competition. At the meeting we realized you needed a 13:3 gear ratio and the 13 gear was 100+ dollars and 2 lbs. so the idea was scraped.
Tuesday February 28
Today was spend in ythe CAD cave doing another design that used chain instead of gears. Kinda boring but i got to go home early cuz coach hughs has a thing after.
Wednesday March 1
Wednesday challenge!!! Today we only had 2 people in our group so we became judges for it. We spend the day coming up with how to judge a boat tail as we have no prior experience with them.
Thursday March 2
Today was spent continuing to add to the spread sheet categories for the boat tails. Today was also the last day that people could work on the boat tails before we graded them tomorrow.
Friday march 3
Today we had to scrap some of the categories or everyone would have been DQed. Most of the baot tails were concave instead of convex so we just said next idea. i didnt take a picture of all the tails but i dont think you would want to see them (theys ugly)
Week 9 semester 2
Monday March 6
today we went over how the amount of F in the class has risen to 17 out of like 37 or 40. Erin and I gave a brief presentation on last weeks wednesday challenge after doing a final tie breaker.
Tuesday March 7
Today is the day before we start the quarter WC. i went bakc with kevin sam ian and cole to watch kevin CAD a Rope climber mechanism.
Wednesday March 8
TOday we started the wednesday challege by reviewing the rules and then general concepting.
THursday March 9
Today was spent thinking of a design and implementation of a device that could work for the chip challenge.
Friday March 10
toay i sketchuped my design. i didnt have time to export as a jpg but i can describe it. IT is a 5x5 inch box with 1 inch squish foam surrounding it. then tehre is a box that is filled with cotton balls and feathers which is place into the bigger box and sealed.
Week 10 semester 2
Monday March 14
today finally got my cad that i have to use to make the box and it is similar to mine where you fill the box with cotton balls half way, put chip in then finish filling it up.
Tuesday March 15
Im writing this on monday so i assume that today i will be finishing my box taping it sealed and submitting it.
Wednesday March 16
today is my last day before competition and since i wont be bringing my computer tis is my last upload of the week. it really sucks because i have 3 tests 2 quizes a project due and an essay instead of weight room. Wednesday is my favorite day because it is intensive training instead of exhaustion training so when we do sprints you feel better and can run faster.
so im writing this on 28 but we went 5-6 during qualification matches and did not get picked. MRS MARTOS HOWEVER WON THE WOODY FLOWER AWARD AND WE WON THE IMAGERY AWARD!
