today we were given a 5 inch by 5 inch piece of aluminum foil and told to build a boat that held as many pennies as possble. we failed terribly with a score of 7 the first time and the second design with a completly new idea held 28. sadly both boats were turned into yamacahs by ian who destroyed them upon sinking. wednesday challenge #3
Today was a revised version of the first wednesday challenge. so the only thing that we changed was the backup plan. everytiung else was the same. same design same work ethic same failure but we got a backup plan that worked and we got a number on the board which is infinite times better. math:12/0 = infinite times improvement. all the towers besides ian's and justins were in my opinion failed because they fell and the marshmellow had a height of zero after they fell. today's wc is make a bridge spanning 8" across that can hold the max amount of pennies. the only materials that you can use are one 8.5" x 11" piece of paper and 3 paper clips. for every unused paper clip you get 25 points added to your score. 1 penny = 1 point.
wc 5 spaghetti bridge yeah this is gonna take a whilecuz we have less time, stronger restrictions and ms gill doesnt like my bridge and doesnt want to see it beat out the competition. a) Description of the challenge: create a bridge with wood glue and 20 pieces of speghetti. or hot glue.
b) Description of your first prototype, picture(s), and results from testing its called mine and it is basically using a loophole of oxydizing the gluie and making it into a putty that is basically a stick. Gill says we cant do the design cuz it uses too much glue sooooooooooo we made another one out of hot glue(more expensive) and it didnt hold at all. c) Description of your second prototype, picture(s), and results from testing called kevin cuz kevin strawn stole it from the previous year. uses triangles to increase sturdiness and strength. it held the u bolt which is already an improvement. but hooking the container on broke it. d) Description of your final bridge design, picture(s), and results from testing we went with the second design and got a 1.6ish efficiency e) One Wednesday Challenge form should be uploaded.
